Pinalu (Arbi) is one of the traditional food items of Uttarakhand. It is a type of root which is grown in the cool climate and pure soil of the mountains in a purely organic manner in the hilly areas. While larger arabis are called ‘Gaderi’, these smaller sized arabis are called ‘Pinallu’ or ‘Pungadi’. It is small, round or oval in shape.
